Can you use benzoyl peroxide and exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA) together?
Not in the same session. Benzoyl peroxide already disrupts the skin surface, and adding an exfoliating acid strips the barrier faster than it can repair. Leave a 24-hour gap and schedule them on separate evenings.
Why
BP disrupts the skin surface while clearing acne bacteria. Chemical exfoliants (AHA/BHA) then accelerate cell removal on top of that disruption. The combined effect strips the barrier faster than it can repair, causing dryness, tightness, and sensitisation.
What to do
24-hour minimum gap between applications. If using BP daily, schedule exfoliating acids on separate evenings — not the same or the following session.
